Wording your wedding thank you cards
Once upon a time it was actually considered bad manners to send thank you cards to your guests as it was considered impersonal. However, culture has changed and now it is the norm. You still need to make the effort though.
When choosing how to word your wedding thank yous, think about how you feel about each guest. Individual, hand-written messages are generally better received, although you can have thank you cards printed with a personalised message.
If you opt to write each message separately, a good place to start is to acknowledge the individual contributions of each person to the wedding, especially where the person has played a significant role during proceedings. You should also consider the gifts that were given and cards may need to be sent sooner if the gifts were received early.
Many people say that thank you cards should begin with reference to the guest rather than with the use of ‘I’. This, in effect, prioritises the contribution of the guest. All in all though, as long as your message is warm and heartfelt, you won’t go far wrong.
