Tips for Great Wedding Invitations

Filed under: Wedding Invitations, Wedding Invitations Articles — Bex @ 12:32 pm

We always say that you should spend as much time on your wedding invitations as you can, in order to get them perfect for sending out to your loved ones.  Here’s a little guide to making sure yours are as good as they can be:

Proof-read – or even better, get someone else to proof-read!  You should always proof-read all of the wording on your wedding invitations to make sure it says exactly what you need it to.  This isn’t always fool-proof though as we tend to read what we anticipate is written so getting a few other people to go over your wording is a really good idea.  You cannot check and double-check too many times!

Make sure that you have included a reply date on your invite.  You should set a deadline for replies as it will ensure that you hear back from everyone in good time and are not left wondering whether someone is going to turn up.  If a guest does not reply by the cut-off date, it could be because their invitation has been lost in the post so you should try contacting them again to see if there has been a problem.

A lot of couples get it wrong when it comes to postage.  With so many different types of wedding invitations available, many are bigger, heavier or thicker that standard ‘DL’ letter size and, therefore, cost more to send.  Don’t get caught out – it’s not good for your guest to have to pay to receive your wedding invite!

Check all addresses (and addressees) thoroughly.  Check with other family members and friends if you are unsure if you have the correct address or if you think someone may have recently moved.  Use the Royal Mail website for postcodes and addresses if you have incomplete ones – also useful if you need to check on letter dimensions and weights.

Send early!  We cannot stress this enough – anybody would rather receive an invitation a month earlier than expected rather than hanging around weeks before the wedding wondering if the event is happening at all!  Send early and then follow up with a phone call, letter or email if necessary.
