Strength of a Community

Here’s a bridal story to warm your hearts and bring a lump to your throat…

A bridegroom who has terminal cancer tied the knot with his lovely bride in a £20,000 dream wedding paid for by the residents of Burnley, Lancashire.  Tammy Dale and Tom Cooper married yesterday in a lavish ceremony at Burnley’s Towneley Hall – just four weeks after launching an appeal for help in the Lancashire Telegraph.  Everything from the venue and dress through to the wedding photo album and pictures was donated by the generosity of friends, family and community.

The couple were forced to step up their plans to marry after being told that Tom had an uncommon form of throat cancer.  Due to the rarity of his particluar cancer, doctors told Tom that they do not know exactly how long he has left to live.  Previous wedding plans had to be abandoned because of money worries, until their friends, family and the local community gathered round and helped them achieve their dream day.

Tammy arrived at Towneley Hall in a horse-drawn carriage accompanied by her dad.  Dressed in a stunning strapless white wedding dress embroidered with diamonds, Tammy walked down the aisle to Shania Twain’s ‘You’re Still The One’.  Tammy had two bridesmaids and four flower girls, including the couple’s two young daughters.  Tom was dressed in grey tails and a peach-coloured tie and he was visibly moved as he saw Tammy for the first time.   Around 100 guests watched the couple exchange vows and a family friend read the poem ‘On Your Wedding Day’ before guests witnessed the couple sign the register.

Family and friends decided to help organise the wedding and raise the cash needed so the couple could concentrate on enjoying their last weeks together.  Every detail of their wedding, from the horse and carriage to the little details like the wedding photo album and table decorations were arranged so that the couple had the perfect wedding day.

Three Ideas for 30th Wedding Anniversary Invitations

Filed under: 30th Wedding Anniversary Invitations — Jenny @ 7:00 am

Do you want to make your own 30th wedding anniversary invitations? This is a great option to make your invitations personalised and unique but you may be struggling for ideas. Here are three great ideas to choose from when thinking of a design for your invites.

Photo Invitations

One option that you have is to make photo invitations. These are extremely easy and show the invitees who is hosting the party. This is a great option, especially if you have a common name. These 30th wedding anniversary invitations are also fun to create, since it means that you get the chance to look through photos and find the best one of you as a couple. You could use something from your wedding or have special shots taken; you could also use something from a recent holiday.

Invitations from the Children

If you have children that are still young, it may be worth creating the 30th wedding anniversary invitations from them. Your children – no matter how old – may want to be involved in this milestone, too! If you are using a photo, then ask your children to pick something out that they like. You could also ask them to come up with the wording.

What Were Your Wedding Invitations Like?

The 30th year is a big milestone and it is a time to remember your wedding. When looking for ideas for 30th wedding anniversary invitations, take a look at what your wedding invites were like. You can use ideas from that and even offer something the same but with different wording. This is actually something that you can do for all your big milestones that you celebrate together. If you cannot use the whole idea of the wedding invitations, it may be worth looking at smaller parts that you can incorporate into your invitations for your 30th wedding anniversary.
