Making a wedding table plan

Filed under: Wedding Table Plan — Diane @ 8:54 am

One of the hardest parts of any wedding is making the table plan. Some people need to sit together, other people can’t sit together and the table size never corresponds to what you actually need. You might even have problems with the layout of the room.

The first thing to do is to decide whether you actually need a formal table plan at all. If it’s a small event, you may not to. However, if there are a large number of guests, it can take a long time to get everyone seated if people don’t know where to go.

Try and keep groups of people together. If you start your table plan by putting families and groups of friends or colleagues together, this gets a lot of people out of the way early on.

Resist the temptation to set people up. Match making is not a good idea. You really want you guests to be at ease and this might not help. If you sit two single people together with no-one else that they know, it will seem obvious and is likely to make them feel uncomfortable.

Tips for writing thank-you cards

Filed under: Wedding Thank You Cards — Dave @ 6:53 pm

After your wedding, one thing that you must do is write to each of your guests, thanking them for attending. As with most things, there are a number of dos and don’ts related to this.

First of all, pick the right card. There are any number of different designs, so take a look online and see what you can find which matches your taste.

It’s important to keep your message personal and this is quite possible when you buy online. You can add a message and the company in question will send you a proof allowing you to check what it will look like before ordering more.

It’s often a good idea to buy your thank-you cards at the same time as when you buy your wedding invitations. This means that you will have the cards ready for a prompt response for a start, but it also means you can have complementary designs for the two. It may even be possible to get some sort of discount if you buy both together.

It’s important not to wait too long before sending out your thank-yous. Etiquette is a matter of opinion, but many people believe you should send them out within a couple of weeks. However, others believe that as long as the card is received within two months, that’s okay.
