First wedding dress shop ONLY for pregnant brides opens

Filed under: Wedding Help & Advice — admin @ 7:02 am

The social attitude towards pregnant brides has changed in recent years with many more conceptions taking place outside of a marriage rather than within. There was a time when a bride would do her best to hide the fact of being pregnant when she married.

Expectant Bride is a new service offering consultations to pregnant women who intend to wed before the arrival. The designers are trained to estimate how big the bump will be by the brides big day and can design a dress accordingly.

The dresses are designed that they are longer at the front so they do not rise up over the round stomach, and the sides are hemmed to allow for last minute alterations should the belly exceed forecasts. The gowns are also pulled in at the back to give the ultimate flattering shapes.

The new shop is situated in Chiswick, West London. Tracey Wilkinson, 31, set up the shop after she found it very difficult to find the perfect maternity dress for her wedding.

Wilkinson has already helped more that 150 expectant brides, many travelling long distances, from as far  as Scotland and Wales for example… the majority being career women in their late 20s and early 30s.

Some of her clients got pregnant after setting a wedding date, while some others have decided to get married quickly after they have discovered that they are expecting.

The exclusive dresses are designed and created by four designers and range in price from £175 to £1,200.
