Some couples choose to create a very organised seating plan while others prefer to let their guests simply sit where they like. This all depends upon how many people you have at the reception. If you don’t have many guests, then it’s sometimes nice to let people sit where they like.
However, if you have a large group of people then a seating plan might be necessary in order to keep the reception running smoothly and to not waste time with people trying to find seats.
The happy couple will normally sit at the head of a table which should consist of closest friends and family.
You may also want to set up a table for the photographers, the videographer and the band but this does not need to be with all the other tables. In truth, these people may not have time to sit down and eat and if they do, it will not be for long so ask your caterers to set up a special table for them out of the way so that if they do get chance, they can sit down for a quick bite and a drink.
The wedding table plan can be a nightmare to put together, but the most important thing is to try to keep everyone happy. Ensure that close friends and family members are considered and the rest should simply slip into place.
When a couple are planning their wedding, many seem to completely lose their confidence as they are overwhelmed with ideas of etiquette and wedding rules.
But the truth is; this is your special day. You are allowed to do whatever you want to make it the perfect day for you. However, there are certain guidelines which can make planning your day a little easier.
Most people choose to have a wedding reception straight after the wedding ceremony. This is so that guests don’t have to wait around unnecessarily. Many couples choose to have their ceremony and reception at the same venue and others ensure that the drive between the two venues is no longer than half an hour.
Once all of your guests have arrived, there will often be a meal. But if you have decided to opt for designated seating, you may wish to invest in escort cards as well as wedding place cards and also table cards.
The escort card will be placed near the entrance to the reception room and it will consist of a list of guest’s names along with their table number. The wedding place cards are placed on each table and will let each guest know which specific seat is theirs. The table card will display the name of the table – whether this is decided upon the theme of your wedding or your favourite flowers etc is up to you.
A wedding is not just about the bride and groom. In fact, the guests can be really involved in your big day too. From being in the wedding photos, to taking their own pictures with the disposable cameras provided, your wedding day can be a huge amount of fun for your family and friends.
The wedding ceremony itself is meant to be romantic, symbolic and meaningful; but then the celebrations start. And so does the fun.
Most couples will choose to have a meal as part of their wedding reception. And this, of course, means that everyone needs to be seated. The wedding table plan may have taken a while to organise and it may have involved lots of swapping around but when you see your guests all seated and organised, you will be glad you did it.
And to make the proceedings a little more fun, a lot of people choose to have wedding table names. You should choose a name for each table so that you can tell your guests which table they will be on. A lot of people choose their wedding table names based on the theme of their wedding. But you could also choose a different flower name for each table or a different colour.
