Involving those guests who can’t be at your wedding

Filed under: Wedding Help & Advice — Diane @ 9:00 am

When it comes to your wedding day, you want to do your best to ensure that everyone can be there. But sadly that’s not always possible and you might have to accept that some guests will not be able to come and share your special day with you.

It can be upsetting to receive your wedding RSVP cards back only to find that some of your close friends and family cannot attend the big day; but you can still include them in your wedding.

Some guests might not be able to attend because they live in a different country and can therefore not get to the event and others might have work or family commitments. But for those close friends and family members who are unable to attend, you could organise some video messages. Each message could be played at the reception and this is a great way to include these guests in the wedding. By leaving you a meaningful message, the people unable to attend will feel much more of a part of the day and they will feel that they are giving you a more personal message than a simple card through the post.

Choosing a theme for your big day

Filed under: Wedding Help & Advice — Jenny @ 9:00 am

Choosing a theme for your wedding can help to bring the whole day together. But it’s difficult to know how to even pick a theme in the first place.

But if you don’t want to overcomplicate things, then your theme could be something as simple as just a colour scheme. You could get your outfits, flowers, table linen, crockery and accessories to all match the colour scheme and you could even ask your guests to come in clothes that tie in with the colour scheme. Stick to two or three colours for maximum impact.

Use the setting of your wedding to help you with your theme too; if you are getting married outside, then you may want to take inspiration from the natural surroundings. Or a beach wedding can certainly give you a few ideas for your wedding theme.

Once you have your theme in mind, then you need to start incorporating into the big day. Start by adding your theme to the wedding invites; this is very important as the wedding invites are the first impression that most guests will have of your big day.

Then, keep your theme in mind for every decision that you make, so that you can ensure the theme runs through your entire day.

Avoiding problems on your big day

Filed under: Wedding Help & Advice — Dave @ 9:00 am

Even if you have the most organised wedding in the world, there is still always a chance that something will go wrong on the big day.

So in order to reduce the amount of stress that can be caused by unexpected problems on the day, it’s important to be prepared for any eventuality.

Make sure that everyone who is playing a part in the wedding has a clear idea of what they have to do. This means that you won’t have to organise them on the day or worry about what they are doing. Fully brief the best man and the maid of honour as they will play a big part in the day and will therefore need to know exactly what is happening when.

Of course there are problems that can be very difficult to deal with such as problems with the dress; although having a small sewing kit to hand is always a good idea. But in terms of the events of the day, one of the best ways to ensure that it is properly organised is with a wedding order of service. With a wedding order of service to hand, guests can consult this guide if they are ever unsure of what is happening and where they are meant to be.
