The Christening of your child is an important occasion. You will want all of your close friends and your family members to share this special day with you.

Just like any other special day, you will want to invite your guests in style. So Christening invitations are the perfect way to let your friends and family know the times, dates and venue of your child’s special day.

There are Christening invitations available for girls, boys and even twins and triplets. And you can buy them in a range of styles and colours, to match the theme of the Christening.

Personalised Christening invitations are available so you can really add a personal touch to the day. Or you can opt for a standard design and just add in your own names, dates and times.

You can choose a photographic design, or even a design featuring babies’ hand prints on the front of the card.

Whichever design you opt for, Christening invitations are the perfect way to let your friends and family know that this special day is coming up. And they can even be kept as a souvenir of the special occasion for years to come.

What is a christening?

Filed under: Christening Invitations Articles — Diane @ 4:31 pm

A christening is the religious Christian act of baptising a person. The baptism admits the person, or baptisand, in to the Christian Church and is carried out with the use of water. While a christening can be carried out at any age, infant baptisms are more common, usually when the person in question is a baby or young infant.

The ceremony is one of celebration and it is common for families and friends to be invited to these occasions. Personalised christening invitations are often used as they add a unique touch to the whole event.

The actual ceremony varies depending on the denomination of Christianity being followed; most often the baptisand has water poured or sprinkled upon them. However, certain rituals will also involve having the person submersed in water. As the water touches them, the baptist will usually speak the following words:

“I baptise you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit”

Baptism is believed to have been an included part of Christianity from the beginning, and it is thought by many Christians that the ritual was put in place by Jesus himself.
