Asda Launches £25 Bargain Buggy!

Filed under: Baby Help & Advice — admin @ 10:47 pm

ASDA has launched a £25.00 bargain buggy in an attempt to aid new mothers struggling with the recent financial hardship. A recent survay conducted by ASDA found that almost a quater of their shoppers were pregnant and due to give birth in the next three months!

Due to the economy, many couples are not able to afford to go out, and are settling for more cosy nights in. This reflects in recent statistics issued by the NHS…UK births have gone up by 3.3% during the past year, with 20,000 more babies being born than in 2008.

A shocking two thirds of women in the survey addmited that they have been unable to save any money for their new arrivals due to the financial climate thesedays.

‘With parents spending on average, up to £18, 000 on a child before its first birthday, having a baby is not cheap even when we aren’t in the middle of a recession.”

Back to the buggy….
The Hauck Sport buggy was available at Mothercare and Argos for £45, but the Asda price is £20 less for the same product. Nice to see ASDA helping out its mothers to be!

The Card Gallery tries to help keep costs affordable with its range of baby photo albums and Christening invitations.

Mother gives birth to identical triplets, beating odds of 160,000-1!

Filed under: Baby Help & Advice — admin @ 8:42 pm

A mother from Norfolk has beaten very high odds to naturally conceive identical triplet boys.

28 year old, Emma Spooner gave birth to Alfie, Sebastian and Zak at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital in April. The family only recently discovered that the baby boys were identical after futher tests on the placenta.

Alfie, Sebastian and Zak were born by caesarean section six weeks before their due date and wowed Doctors by going home merely eight days after the birth.

The boys had a combined weight of almost 15lbs, Sebastion and Alfie weighing under 5lbs each and Zack being the biggest at 5lb 2oz.

Mrs Spooner admitted that she is finding it hard to tell the new borns apart, dressing them in different coloured clothing to make it easier to distinguish them.

Grandma, Diane Raymond stayed in the family home for the first two weeks to give support when the triplets left hospital after the new mother was finding herself extremely sleep deprived.

When one fertalised egg splits to create three embryos, identical triplets occur. This differs to non identical triplets when three seperate eggs are fertilised at once.

It is estimated that triplets occour once in 10,000 naturally conceived births, but the odds of identical triplets are 150,000 to 160,000.

If you’re looking for birth announcement cards, take a look at The Card Gallery’s range.
