Bridesmaid Dresses To Suit Every Shape and Size
I think that I am pretty safe to say that we have all been to a wedding ceremony where one of the bridesmaids cannot quite pull her dress off as well as her fellow bridesmaids. Perhaps the green shade does not match her complex, unlike her fellow maids?
Yes, it is true that the bride does not want to be upstaged by her bridesmaids. However, it is your role as the leading lady to ensure that they are looking tip top, just not as stunning as you.
Perhaps recently one of the bridesmaids has recently had a baby? You really don’t want her to feel rubbish as she follows you down the aisle feeling completely hideous. It is also a common thing for those maids that have had to travel to your big day from out of town, to get landed with a dress that does not entirely fit them or suit their body shape. It is not their fault that they couldn’t attend pre-fittings.
It is natural to feel sorry for these women, but many women will wear whatever the bride-to-be wants, as it is her special day, and besides.. It is only for a few hours. At the other end of the spectrum, other bridesmaids will say that one of the perks of being a bridesmaid is that they may be able to wear their dress again for a cocktail party or special occasion.
You have to feel for the bride as chances are she has envisaged her perfect bridesmaid’s attire since an early age, but it is all about compromise. However, never fear, there is an exciting trend that is getting more popular in the bridesmaid dress world that is sure to keep brides and her maids happy.
For those brides that have had their hearts set on a certain colour for the maids dresses, the answer is simple. Choose the colour and fabric, but give brides a bit of leeway concerning shapes. For example, one could choose to wear a halter neck garment, whilst the other may choose a more flattering shape for her figure such as a strapless dress….not all bridesmaids have to wear the same dress.
If you wanted a bit more of a funky approach to your bridesmaid wedding dresses then why not decide to have different coloured ones? I’m not saying have all the colours in the rainbow, but a nice select pallet of purple shades can be really flattering. If you went for this option, it is important to try and keep the shape of the dress consistent as the end result may end up a bit of a mess.
Finally, if you are playing the role of either a bride or a bridesmaid, it is important to take both sides into consideration. Give and take a little, and most of all, have fun!
