November 15th - Venue Hunting

Dear Readers,

Bit of a quiet week on the planning front as we’re waiting for lots of venues to get back to us with dates for availability next September.  Thought they’d be falling over themselves to take our hard-earned money but it seems that nobody is in a rush…is this normal?  Didn’t see the point in going to view loads of places until we knew if they’ve got availability as the idea of doing it in vain with a two-year old doesn’t really appeal!  Haven’t had the chance to go and look at churches yet either, but I have a cunning plan to tie it in with a Christmas Nativity service, so Joe is kept entertained and I can have a good nosey round our local church.

The ‘let’s talk about the wedding’ meetings with Darren have not gone well – in fact they haven’t happened full stop.  I tried to broach the subject of the guest list at one point but this is a bit of an issue with the two of us as Darren only really has his mum and brother on his side and I have about a million – no joke, both sets of grandparents had seven children each and each aunt or uncle went on to reproduce at an alarming rate!  Most of our friends are also friends of the both of us as we have been together since college, so where do we sit people for the ceremony?  I imagine we’d have to do away with the whole ‘bride or groom’ seating and let people sit pretty much where they want.  I’d love to hear if anyone has any solutions for this as we’ve only ever attended weddings where we’ve had to pick sides!

So, not too much to report this week but at least we have contacted some venues and I have the church nativity pencilled in my diary for the first week in December.

That’s all for now, see you in two weeks!

 Laura
